5Thank God for Pink - Who Needs Another Britney Spears Anyway  Dec 20, 2001
Okay, I admit it...I'm thirty-something, and I REALLY like Pink's music. I mean, let's face it, her voice is wonderful! I loved most of the songs on "Can't Take Me Home", and I even love more of the songs on "Missundaztood". My favorites on this cd are "Don't Let Me Get Me", "Just Like A Pill", "18 Wheeler", "Misery", "Dear Diary", "Lonely Girl", "Numb", and "My Vietnam"...ohhh forgedda 'bout it, ALL the songs on this cd are good! Of course, I was awakened by the poignant lyrics in the song "Family Portrait" which I have to say, I admire Pink for singing and putting on this cd. It's sad, brutally honest, and every parent in this world should listen to these lyrics as if they were sung by their own child. But thankfully, that's the only song on here that makes me want to cry inside. The rest are bluesy, jazzy, rock/pop sensations that just make you want to listen to them over, and over, and over, and over. Get the point?! Go ahead, buy this cd, you will not be sorry you added it to your collecion. And to Pink, if you ever read this - Keep up the good work girl! (and take care of that voice of yours, it's Golden!)

5M!ssundaztood  Dec 08, 2001 By fanboy
Well I'm so glad I bought this and really can't skip a single song. I had heard "GET THIS PARTY STARTED" and fell in love. Pink's new album is even better than her first one last year. I recommend this to anybody looking for some good tunes full of passionate lyrics.

1. M!SSUNDAZTOOD - I love this song, very catchy and upbeat. Love the end skit. 4 stars out of 5

2. DON'T LET ME GET ME - Very rockish, with a electric guitar and very strong vocals that stand out. 4 stars out of 5

3. JUST LIKE A PILL - OMG I love this song!!! Nice opening. 5 stars out of 5

4. GET THIS PARTY STARTED - Sooooo catchy! Anybody who can't get pumped up with this must be dead. I'm lovin the electronica and hip-hop mix, kinda Madonna ish. 5 out of 5

5. RESPECT (FEAT. SCRATCH) - Wow Pink pulls off another great dance song, with a awesome beat and incredible messege! It samples the "R-e-s-p-e-c-t" chorus of Aretha Franklin's 60's hit. 4 out of 5

6. 18 WHEELER - Your upbeat rock-pop. Love the guitar. 4 out of 5

7. FAMILY PORTRAIT - This is a niiice song. It has a rap feel, but not too much. Sad, sad, lyrics that make you think about divorce & broken homes. 5 out of 5

8. MISERY (FEAT. STEVEN TYLER) - They sound soooo good together!!!! I couldn't believe, its' like they should have recorded from the start! 5 out of 5

9. DEAR DIARY - Kind of reminds me of Fiona Apple's 1997 hit "Criminal." Love the hypnotic beat. 5 out of 5

10. EVENTUALLY - A slow paced ballad with strings. Its about revenge on people who try to use Pink and turn their back on her. 4 out of 5

11. LONELY GIRL - Nice rock song. The most classical rock song, as it has a Beatles 60's era sound to it. 4 out of 5

12. NUMB - Hard femme rock at its best. Love it. 5 out of 5

13. GONE TO CALIFORNIA - A very sad, slow ballad about how bad of a shape Philadelphia is in. Nice melody. 5 out of 5

14. MY VIETNAM - A great rock tune about Pink's confusing life and wars. 5 out of 5

4I l!Ke P!nK  Mar 14, 2002 By Alejandra Vernon "artist & illustrator"
I've liked Pink since I first saw her in that terrific video with the motorcycle, and I think she's quite a talent.
Her performances always capture my attention, she has a growing gift for songwriting, a unique singing style, and I just love that little wobble in her voice.

This CD has its ups and downs...I can live without the first 3 tracks, but it also has some exceptional ones.
With "Get the Party Started" and "Respect", Pink is at her brassy-sassy best, and "Misery", a duet with Steven Tyler, is a down home bluesy number that really works well.

The gems on this CD to my ears are "Family Portrait" (writen by Pink and Scott Storch), which is a really moving piece that I don't think could be sung better by anybody, I like "Eventually" (written by Pink and Linda Perry) more with each hearing (nice lyrics), and "Gone to California" (Pink and Perry again) is great. Her phrasing on this song is superb, and there's the added bonus of a jazzy A-1 sax solo by Jimmy Z, and David Siegel on organ adds a lot to it too.

These three songs are some of the slower ones on this CD, and show a lot of artistry. Out of the current crop of young singers, I wouldn't be surprised if Pink is the one we'll be listening to 10 years from now.

3Pink finds new direction  Nov 20, 2001 By Devon
Pink's sophomore effort Missundaztood finds the 20-year-old Pennsylvanian acting less like an R&B bad girl and more like a pop-rock princess. Those expecting to find a "Can't Take Me Home Part II" are sadly mistaken. Fans of her first album must come into Missundaztood with clean ears. Gone are the urban "ching ching, bling bling" references, a new direction is evident. The once urban Pink has gone suburban, trading in the Fubu for leather and lace. Of the fourteen tracks that grace the album, only a few are R&B oriented. A far cry from her first record, which featured no rock tracks whatsoever, here they predominate. Though Lilith Fair it isn't. The production on Pink's latest offering is as slick as anything on TRL (Total Request Live). The hip-hop drum patterns that she rode to superstardom during her debut are surprisingly mute; in its place are electric guitars and folk-flavored acoustics. Also absent are many dance tracks. The only solid dance track is her first single "Get The Party Started," a post-psychedelic 60s-meets-21st-century romp. The rest of the subject matter is more introspective.
"It ain't easy growing up in World War III," she croons. There's a surprising sense of vulnerability displayed throughout the album. Here we find Pink reflective and confessional. She's a bad girl, but she has feelings. She sings about life, loss and longing. Lyrically, Pink has never been more heartfelt and revealing. Everything from parental hardship to sleazy ex-girlfriends is discussed. Vocally, Pink sounds assured and confident. In "Don't Let Me Get Me," Pink makes an effort to distance herself from her teen contemporaries: "tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears/she's so pretty, that just ain't me." Ironically, in her distancing she winds up sounding more TRL-esque on her latest album than her last.
Missundaztood is more like a masquerade. If she isn't sounding like Tori Amos or Natalie Imbruglia, she's a dredless Lauryn Hill ("Eventually") or a female Eminem ("Family Portrait"). Where Pink lacks in artistic coherence, she makes up for in creativity. In "My Vietnam" she correlates her perils to the sounds of detonating bombs. Towards the end of the song is a sonic interpolation of Jimi Hendrix's "Star Spangled Banner." While introspection dominates a majority of the album, bitterness never subsides. A healthy level of will power and optimism is present. Fans of the old man-eating Pink from the first album will enjoy "Respect," where she disenfranchises potential "playas" and empowers her fellow femme fatales. The overall vibe of Missundaztood is less aggressive and more self-determined. She takes an empowered role in such songs as "18 Wheeler" and the radio-ready "Just Like A Pill." Overall, Pinks latest album is an introspective charmer that shows the promise and versatility evident in a young and rising star.

5THE COLOR PINK ROCKS! So Does The Singer!!!  Nov 23, 2001 By dogeneedtakeship "The Loveless Fascination"
Pink can finally be undaztood after getting rid of all those unnecessary beats that she had of her debut album by making her sophomore album just a step forward to rock. When I heard pink was changing her genre to rock, I thought that she was going to do the Mandy Moore thing were she just put instruments behind pop songs, but Pink kept her word. This is Pinks best move yet and its going to make her career prosper even more. Pink wrote 11 out of the 14 songs on this album in which she put her every emotion into them unlike those R&B tracks that she did which weren't bad, its just that you didn't learn or grow by listening to them.

Track Listing:

1.) Missundaztood - This is a hot track that pink laid down for us with a great chorus and you can tell that she was having great fun when she recorded this track. This track is just one of those feel better about yourself track, and it sure brightens up my mood.

2.) Don't Let Me Get Me - This track is very meaningful and I can definitely relate in understanding that some days you just don't like yourself and other days you do. Pink actually gives a shout out to our friend Britney Spears in this song.

3.) Just Like A Pill - This is by far one of the most promising tracks on this album, this track is off the hook, you can feel Pinks inner emotions in this song. This song has a great chorus and when she states "And I swear you're just like a pill, instead of making me better you keep making be ill" I think she expresses the metaphor very well.

4.) Get The Party Started - Pink was smart to choose this track as her first single because it definitely shows her new rock side and still has a pinch of her old R&B side.

5.) Respect feat. Scratch - In this track pink claims its rap but I am still feeling the strong rock vibe from it.

6.) 18 Wheeler - This song is very interesting, its a song that you wouldn't expect a women to sing, but more power to you, Pink.

7.) Family Portrait - This is a very sad and tragic song but its also very true and pink just lays down all the facts that people find disturbing to listen to. Pink is basically saying that not all families are happy.

8.) Misery Feat. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith - This song is really as good as its anticipation claimed it to be, they both work the heck out of this song with there misery sounding like vocals in front of a jazz/blues beat.

9.) Dear Diary - I know that Britney Spears' "Dear Diary" put a bad name on any song of the same title but Pink's Dear Diary is really sweet and meaningful, and all she really wants to do is tell it her secrets.

10.) Eventually - This song is another sad jazz./blues song, it good to hear an artist share her pain because sometimes the fans are going through the same thing.

11.) Lonely Girl feat. Linda Perry - The beat and the way Pink's vocals flow in this song are very sweet and beautiful and you can feel what she was feeling. Linda Perry who helped co-write a few of the songs on this album is actually featured singing the chorus.

12.) Numb - This is a hard core rock song and you can hear all the aggression Pink is expressing in this song.

13.) Gone To California - Any song about California is good, California is a nice place, this song features many jazz/blues beats in it. This track is off the hook.

14.) My Vietnam - This is a very meaningful song, its up to you on how you interpret it but Pink sounds very serious about this song.

I am so proud of Pink's work and she has me really looking forward to her next album. This album is a masterpiece of great expression, and I just wanted to share with the world how great this music makes a person feel and what your missing out on if you don't have it.
