For the Love of Acid Jul 29, 2005
By mrgypsum Luke Vibert continues to release great music - actually his material is getting better and better. He is right `up there' with Richard James and the other more popular electronic music makers.
Lover's Acid is a collection of Acid style tracks, some older, some newer. Acid music is a type of electronic music that has an older type of sound to it. Think before the digital/lap-top age - more of a blippy blurpy Roland made sound. The point is, Vibert could have very well made this music on a lap-top (I've seen him live, and he does), but it's made to sound older or classic. That being said - It's a little dance oriented and repetitive, and some tracks have cheesy club parts "Can you imagine, were you will be, in the year 2000?" Vibert manages to pull it off though. I myself like music like this, but be warned. If you're looking for something a little modern sounding and faster - look else where.
If anyone is familiar with Vibert's Warp Records LP, YosepH - this is very similar. In my opinion YosepH - is a bit better - more direct and to the point. But there are some great moments on this album.
Funky Acid Stuff, the opener, is a great track. It has this deep but quick beat and sets the tone for the album.
Homewerk, wow, this is a great track, it makes me dizzy. The beat is everywhere and the base comes in and surprises you.
Gwithian, this is by far the best track on the album. This is my favorite Vibert track. It's so smooth. It's one of those tracks you would picture yourself making love to.
Analord, need I say more. This is an infamous track.
Lover's Acid, this sounds like it could have been on YosepH. It's more industrial, harder hitting acid.
Come On Chaos, wow, another great one, heavy thud beats mixed with blurpy tones.
Orch Garage, I could listen to this one looped forever. It's got something great about it, big blurps of acid and the beat is different.
Dirty F*cker, this ones right up in your face. Just like the title says, this one will get you all messy.
Flyover, another stunning track, closes out the disk nicely.
As you can see I almost mentioned every track (9 out of 12!), that's how good this one is - and the ones I didn't mention are not too bad either. Vibert has this problem on all his releases, there's very rarely a sub-par or below average track. But that's what Luke Vibert's music is; it is accessible music that happens to be really good.

Worthly effort. This album is average for Luke Vibert's usual albums. "Prick Tat" and "Gwithian" are the best two tracks. For starters to Luke Vibert, I recommend his 2007 "Detroit, Chicago, and Redruth" album.
Q: Can You Imagine Where You Will Be In the Year 2000? A: Listening to This Fantacidic Acid Compilation! Oct 11, 2005
By Black Eagle Child The first Vibert I ever heard was "Yoseph," a fantastic acid LP in its own right. However, this CD, compiling three of his past 12" gems is quite more enjoyable, I think. Each track is a solid 5 stars and moves in me an awe that is part jealousy and part inspiration. Vibert's sound is so simple, yet so impressively confusing. His timing isn't all that complex, nor is his sampling, but something in the combination of these and other aspects that creates an amazing sound. It's something like sex for my ears. I want to dance whenever this album is on, though it is often inappropriate. The track "Acid 2000" is the most impressive of these.

Mature and patient electronica Apr 27, 2005
By Christopher Carneal Taste is relative. This recording happens to hit me in all the right ways. Musicians claim the spaces of silence are just as important as the audible notes. Luke Vibert is mastering spacial sample arrangement with these new electronic constructions. Love it!
